Honestly speaking, I don’t think most of us know just how important our nutrition and foods are.
Many of you probably read that first sentence, rolled your eyes in disgust, and have walked away from this post by now. ‘Not another health preacher. Kill me’
First off if you made it this far into the post, congrats! I get the satisfaction of knowing that my writing is not as I bad as I initially thought.
Secondly, why do most of us hate talking about nutrition? I have a theory: we simply feel guilty.
We know that we’re supposed to eat healthy, but we simply choose not to do it. But who can blame us? We don’t want to eat healthy. Healthy is boring for a lot of us, and it’s no wonder that obesity rates are flying through the roof. With an abundance of food choices, unprecedented in the history of mankind, who in their right mind would choose to eat chicken breast and brocolli over pizza?
Unless you want to look like this:

which I’m guessing you probably don’t (alright I may have exaggerated a tad bit), torturing yourself by eating bland and tasteless foods doesn’t make any sense.
But what if I told you you could have your cake and eat it too? What I mean is, you don’t have to deprive yourself of your favourite foods to eat ‘healthily’. You see, if you’re reading this, you have a different yet specific goal to accomplish – you probably want to look and feel younger. Unless you’re prepping for some asinine bodybuilding / modeling show, you don’t have to stoop to the level of brocolli, salads and chicken breast every single day.
We’re normal human beings. We like our deserts, and we shouldn’t be ashamed of it.
Instead, we need to know how to either a.) replace these unhealthier food options with healthier, just as delicious, anti aging ones, or b.) find a way to incorporate them into our daily eating habits.
Today’s blog post delves deeper into this discussion: Click Here.
Let this be on record, I hate the word ‘diet’. It gives us a completely wrong impression of how a healthy lifestyle should be lived. Many people suffer from ‘yo-yo’ bodies, meaning they get really fit for some portion of the year, only to go back to being fat for the rest of it. You’ve seen these people before, perhaps you were even one of them; feeling motivated one day to get your health on point, only to cave in to the chocolate that’s emanating from the kitchen some time later.
Most of our diets are unsustainable – period.
Instead of trying to change our behaviours by suppresing our desires for delicious foods, I propose a much more healthier, and downright more fun method.
Eating clean should be a lifestyle choice, not a ‘diet’; because if you’re on a diet, you can just as easily be off of one.
We want to let eating clean blend in with your life; adding to it, instead of making you feel surpressed. In fact, at the highest level you shouldn’t even feel anything at all – it would’ve blended in so perfectly that you don’t even feel like you’re on a ‘diet’ in the first place.
And that’s the key – flexibility and sustainability.
Especially with our goals of mastering anti aging, food is especially important. So instead of trying to stuff the same old ‘veges and boiled chicken’ down your throat, let’s explore other more healthy, delicious, but most importantly, fun anti aging foods that you can easily incorporate into your life seamlessly.
To make it even more easier for you lazy people out there, below is a ‘day in the life meal plan’ that you can try out immediately starting tomorrow! It has incorporated all the elements of anti aging foods into delicious home made recipes to use at your disposal.
Breakfast: Oatmeal Berry Pancakes
Anti Aging Secret: Blueberries
The blueberries in this recipe are stacked with antioxidants (more than almost any other food) which does wonders for your skin protection and for smoothing fine lines. One half cup of these every day will help to prevent cell-structure damage that can lead to loss of firmness, fine lines and wrinkles.
Directions
- Beat together the egg whites, strawberries (optional: for added flavour), rolled oats, and sugar until smooth.
- Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat.
- Measure 1/4 cup of batter into the skillet.
- Cook until batter is set around the edges of the pan, then push batter toward the center with a spatula.
- Cook until batter begins to set in the center.
- Flip the pancake over. Cook for 1 minute.
- Repeat with remaining batter.
- To serve, top pancakes with sour cream and blueberries.
Lunch: Lemon Butter Salmon
Anti Aging Secret: Salmon (Cold Water Fish)
Most forms of cold water fish (ie salmon, sardines etc) contain essential omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids help to strengthen your skin-cell membranes, while also retaining your moisture in. A good amount of servings for this per week will tremendously help you reduce skin inflammations and redness.
Directions
- Broil in a foil-lined broiler pan or grill salmon for about 8 minutes per inch of thickness.
- Whisk together melted butter, broth or water, lemon zest and juice, and garlic.
- Drizzle lemon-butter sauce over all.
- Optional: Serve with pasta or veges of your choice for added flavour
Dinner: Wheat Fettuccine With Arugula

Anti Aging Secret: Olive Oil
Olive oil is notoriously known for its high concentration of good, healthy fats. These omega-3s are immensely beneficial for your heart-health, improving your circulation which in turn leaves your skin rosy and supple. For that ‘healthy glow’ look, olive oil is definitely the way to go.
Directions
- Cook fettuccine according to package directions; drain. Return fettuccine to saucepan – ensure it is covered and kept on a warm heat.
- Meanwhile, in skillet cook garlic in hot oil for 1 minute. Stir in broth, vinegar, salt.
- Add crushed pepper for added flavour.
- Bring to boiling; remove skillet from heat. Stir in cooked fettuccine, arugula, and tomatoes.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and pine nuts.
- Serve immediately.
